The London gala of “UNSEEN: The Athletes of Northern Cyprus,” a documentary about the obstacles Turkish Cypriot athletes face internationally, was attended by Türkiye’s Embassy in London and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus London Representative Office.
The London gala of “UNSEEN: The Athletes of Northern Cyprus,” a documentary about the isolation experienced by Turkish Cypriot athletes internationally, was held. Türkiye’s Embassy in London said it was pleased to attend the gala.
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus London Representative Office also attended the gala. The office said the documentary examines the isolation faced by Turkish Cypriot athletes internationally.
Discussion in a packed hall
Photos published by the representative office show audiences filling a cinema with red seats as they watched speeches from the podium and a discussion held on stage. Participants took a group photo in the hall at the end of the event.
The international recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus only by Türkiye has long kept Turkish Cypriot sport outside official international competitions. Since the Turkish Cypriot Football Federation is not a member of FIFA or UEFA, its national teams and clubs cannot compete in official international tournaments.
