A tram struck a woman in Fatih Sirkeci the previous evening. The incident took place on Ebussuud Street, where the woman, who was walking along the road, fell to the ground from the impact and sustained a head injury.
It was learned that the woman did not go to the hospital after receiving first aid at the scene. The moments when the tram hit the woman were captured on a security camera of a nearby business.
Local shopkeepers reacted to the speed of tram drivers (vatman), stating that similar accidents have increased recently. Allegedly, despite the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's (IBB) warning to 'go slow,' drivers continue to speed.
Gökhan Fermanzade, an employee at a business, said: "The drivers are speeding. There needs to be a speed limit. Despite our complaints, unfortunately, the drivers speed through. This is a crowded, touristic area. Children get off, there are people with strollers. Drivers need to be more considerate about this. When the tram comes fast, people panic. If the speed limit is observed, it will definitely be better."
Business employee İsmail İzlek said: "The area between Gülhane and the Sirkeci tram line is narrow. As far as we can see, trams always move fast. Our request to them is that the driver friends slow down a bit. As shopkeepers, we want the drivers to be careful so that we can welcome our guests and meet our needs."
