The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) announced that the 2026 term of its Turkish Communication Program for Public Officials and Academics of the Turkic World (KatipAta) has started with 12 participants from the Turkestan region. The program opened with a Turkish course at Hacettepe University’s Turkish and Foreign Language Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER).
Alongside language training, participants will visit various institutions and take part in seminars and cultural trips. According to the program’s official page, the three-month course starts at A2 level, and participants who pass the exams receive a B2 certificate at the end of the program. Participants must attend at least 80% of classes each month.

The program aims to teach Turkish language and culture through immersion and to strengthen ties between Türkiye and participants’ home countries. It is fully funded, covering travel, accommodation and a monthly stipend. Applicants must be under 40, speak English and not reside in Türkiye; public officials need at least three years of service at their institution, while academics and researchers must work at a university or research center.

A Turkic-world version of KATİP
KatipAta is the Turkic-world version of YTB’s Turkish Communication Program for Public Officials and Academics (KATİP), which has brought public officials and academics from around the world to Türkiye since 2014 and has hosted 212 participants from 85 countries so far. YTB launched KatipAta in 2025 under a protocol with Hacettepe University and designed it for participants from the Central Asian Turkic republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
