A detailed search of a truck arriving to enter Turkey at the İpsala Customs Gate uncovered 4,321 kilograms of drugs.
After the vehicle from Greece completed entry procedures, the Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams took the truck into a hangar for a more thorough inspection. The substance identified as drugs was confiscated.
Investigation Continues Following Operation
The seized substance was identified as pregabalin-type drugs and has been destroyed. The investigation is ongoing under the Edirne İpsala Public Prosecutor's Office.
The ministry's statement emphasized that customs enforcement teams continue to combat smuggling at border gates using advanced risk analysis systems, technological inspection infrastructure, and expert personnel.
The statement highlighted that operations against drug trafficking are crucial for protecting public health, keeping young people away from addiction threats, weakening the financial resources of criminal organizations, and maintaining public order.
