The skies over Şanlıurfa hosted various air displays on the first day of the Teknofest Southeastern Türkiye Aviation, Space and Technology Festival. Festival events are being held at GAP Airport in Şanlıurfa.
Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the T3 Foundation and Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc., the festival's air displays began with a parachute jump from the domestically produced multipurpose T-70 helicopter.

Parachutists who jumped from the helicopter after it reached high altitude unfurled the Turkish flag and a photograph of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic, in the sky. Visitors at the festival grounds applauded the display.
Bayraktar Akıncı, an attack unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Baykar, also flew over the festival grounds. The aircraft, notable for the munitions it carries and its advanced technologies, presented visitors with a different display.

Live footage captured by Bayraktar Akıncı from the event area was also shown on giant screens at the festival grounds. The aircraft, equipped with artificial intelligence support, was presented with a flight endurance exceeding 24 hours.
The air displays continued with a flight by SOLOTÜRK. The 15-ton F-16 piloted by Air Pilot Lieutenant Colonel Murat Bakıcı performed acrobatic maneuvers for visitors at the festival grounds. Flying at low altitude at approximately 1,250 kilometers per hour, SOLOTÜRK conducted a flypast salute accompanied by heroic marches.

The festival, featuring various events, will continue through October 4. Teknofest is organized as a platform that enables young people to discover their talents and showcase technological innovations such as rockets and robots.
Held with the support of public institutions, the festival brings together technological work with contributions from numerous institutions across Türkiye. The first Teknofest was held in 2018.
