Armed Israelis who have seized Palestinian land attacked journalists and activists in Hebron, in the occupied West Bank.
Adele Shoko, a Russian-Israeli dual-national journalist who was attacked, said she, U.S. journalist and activist Jasper Nathaniel, and Russian-Israeli dual-national journalist Andrey Krasnovski were targeted.
They were beaten and threatened with gunfire
Shoko said the armed Israelis beat her, threatened to open fire and took her glasses. She said the attackers stole Krasnovski's mobile phone and sprayed pepper spray in Nathaniel's face. The footage shows armed men ordering the journalists to lie on the ground.
Ambulance takes injured journalist to police station
Krasnovski, who suffered a concussion, lost consciousness several times while he was detained, Shoko said. The armed Israelis prevented the ambulance that arrived at the scene from evacuating Krasnovski; the injured journalist was left waiting alone in the ambulance for a long time, and the ambulance took him to a police station instead of a hospital.
Seven attacks on olive-harvesting farmers in 12 hours
The Palestine Liberation Organization-affiliated Commission Against the Separation Wall and Jewish Settlements said the Israeli army and Israeli settlers carried out seven attacks within 12 hours against Palestinian farmers harvesting olives, their land and solidarity activists. According to the commission's statement, more than 50 olive and almond trees were uprooted, some water wells in Bethlehem were rendered unusable, and the Israeli army detained four Palestinians harvesting olives in Nablus.
Pressure mounts in Hebron
Israel launched a comprehensive operation in Hebron after an attack on October 23 at a checkpoint in the city that killed two Israeli soldiers. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said Israeli forces detained two journalists in Hebron on October 26 and raided the office of Al-Ghad television.
About 750,000 Israelis live in 365 settlements and unauthorized outposts in the West Bank, which are illegal under international law.
