Boris Titov, co-chair of the Russia-China Friendship, Peace and Development Committee, said the two countries would move beyond visa requirements after 2027.
Titov spoke at a business breakfast held ahead of the VII Russia-China Entrepreneurs Forum, which is scheduled to open in Moscow on September 10. He said the visa regime between the two countries would become a thing of the past after 2027.
Visa-free entry extended through the end of 2027
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on July 20 extending Chinese citizens’ visa-free entry to Russia until December 31, 2027. China also extended its visa-free regime for Russian citizens through the end of 2027.
Titov said tourist flows had increased at an unprecedented rate after the visa-free arrangement began. He said this development was a major factor in improving relations between Russia and China.
