Bursagaz workers at AKSA: 'We will stay here until we get our jobs back'
Bursagaz workers continued their protest in front of the Bursagaz building on the second day against the employer’s refusal to recognize their union rights and layoffs, stating they will wait until their demands are met. Bursagaz operates under Aksa Natural Gas Distribution Inc., part of Kazancı Holding.
Energy workers organized under DİSK/Enerji-Sen at Bursagaz, who obtained the authority to negotiate a collective labor agreement (CLA), continued their protest on the second day against the employer’s refusal to recognize union rights and layoffs. Emphasizing their determination in a statement, the workers said, "We will not leave here until we get our livelihoods and our dismissed colleagues back."
The workers stated that their constitutional rights are being violated, saying, "Energy workers at Bursagaz organized under DİSK/Enerji-Sen and despite all the tricks of AKSA, they obtained the authority to negotiate a collective labor agreement. However, the employer tramples on all our rights guaranteed by the Constitution. We want to receive the rightful reward for the labor we have honestly put in."
‘If the worker’s livelihood is not your problem, then what is?’
The workers said they wanted to convey their issues to Yıldırım Mayor Oktay Yılmaz, who came to negotiate with AKSA management, but the mayor turned his back on them. They expressed their reaction to Yılmaz with these words: "Bursagaz workers produce public service with their labor to meet the needs of the people. Energy workers are the lifeblood of this city’s people.
Saying 'It’s not my problem' and ignoring the injustice faced by energy workers means being complicit in the worker massacre!"
The workers stated they will continue their vigil in front of Bursagaz until their demands are met.
