Türkiye's Embassy in Canberra will hold a memorial ceremony marking the 88th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic. The ceremony will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, at the Atatürk Monument in Canberra, the embassy announced.
The embassy invited all Turkish citizens to attend the ceremony. The announcement featured a black-and-white image of Atatürk alongside a silhouette of Anıtkabir.

The monument on Anzac Parade
The monument where the ceremony will take place stands on Anzac Parade in Canberra, directly opposite the Australian War Memorial. Completed in 1985, the 70th anniversary of the Gallipoli Campaign, it is located in a garden created by the Australian government in response to Türkiye's recognition that same year of the cove where Australian and New Zealand troops landed on April 25, 1915, as Anzac Cove.
The monument consists of an arched wall resembling the crescent on the Turkish flag, with a time capsule at its center containing soil brought from the Gallipoli battlefields. The wall features a bronze depiction of Atatürk, created by sculptor Hüseyin Gezer and presented as a gift by the Turkish government. The pine trees surrounding the monument were grown from seeds collected from the single pine tree at Kanlısırt (Lone Pine) in Gallipoli. The monument was renovated and reopened in 2007.
