The mine-detection robot "İsot," developed by ASELSAN, became a center of attention for children at TEKNOFEST, held at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport.
The festival was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the T3 Foundation. A robot dog developed as part of the Bites Defense Aviation and Space Software Technologies project was also exhibited at the festival.
It was named after Şanlıurfa’s isot pepper
The robot’s movements particularly attracted children’s attention. Children from Şanlıurfa named the robot dog "İsot," inspired by isot pepper, one of the city’s gastronomic symbols.

The robot posed for photos with visitors at the festival grounds and danced to traditional local melodies. The children also danced the halay with the robot.
“It had never attracted this much attention before”
Erol Çınar Çolakoğlu, the Solutions and Business Development Manager at Bites Defense Aviation and Space Technologies, said the robot dog attracted intense interest throughout the festival.

Çolakoğlu said the robot spent time with children from the morning until the evening and had been entertaining them for four days. He said the robot’s cute appearance drew considerable interest in Şanlıurfa, adding that the children did not even let it leave the area where it was stationed.
Çolakoğlu also announced that the robot dog is used by the police and gendarmerie to detect mines.
