A locally developed suit designed to protect explosive ordnance disposal teams was exhibited at the TEKNOFEST Southeastern Anatolia event held at GAP Airport in Şanlıurfa.
Developed by Turkish engineers in Yozgat, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist Suit was designed as an alternative to similar imported products. The suit weighs 33 kilograms.
Protection against the effects of a 10-kilogram explosive
Made from special fibers and Kevlar fabric, the suit provides protection against the pressure, heat and shrapnel effects of a 10-kilogram explosive located 3 meters away.
The suit also features an air-conditioning system to help explosive ordnance disposal specialists work more comfortably during prolonged use.
Weight reduced by 5 kilograms
Kenan Gündoğdu, head of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit of the General Directorate of Security, said the locally developed suit is an important tool for explosive ordnance disposal teams.

Gündoğdu said the suit is 5 kilograms lighter than foreign-made products.
The festival, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the T3 Foundation and Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc., will welcome visitors through October 4.
