ASELSAN Deputy General Manager Taha Yücel said Türkiye has the capacity to compete in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software development and quantum technologies.
Yücel attended a panel titled "A strategic perspective on the defense industry" held as part of the TEKNOFEST Southeast Türkiye event in Şanlıurfa. Speaking after the panel, Yücel said these fields could help demonstrate Türkiye’s competitiveness.
Access to technology and young people
Yücel said access to technology had been limited in the past, adding that events such as TEKNOFEST bring technology to places where young people live. He said delivering this vision to young people in historic cities such as Şanlıurfa provides a significant advantage.

Yücel said people’s knowledge can begin to become outdated from the moment they graduate from university, and advised young people to pursue lifelong learning. He said young people should continuously renew their knowledge, closely follow technological developments around the world and in their fields, and discover their strongest abilities.
Strategic technology fields
Yücel said the concept of asymmetric warfare is important for the defense industry, adding that conflicts in recent years have highlighted experience in this field.

Highlighting Türkiye’s qualified human resources, Yücel said the country could compete in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software development and quantum technologies. Yücel said Türkiye has the computing capacity and competitiveness required, adding that young people with software skills support this potential.
Yücel said events such as TEKNOFEST strengthen young people’s self-confidence and thanked those who contributed to organizing the festival.
The TEKNOFEST Southeast Türkiye event will welcome visitors until October 4.
