TEKNOFEST, held in Şanlıurfa in southeastern Türkiye from September 30 to October 4, increased young people's awareness of civil aviation. The aviation, space and technology festival ended on Sunday, October 4.
Kemal Yüksek, Türkiye's Director General of Civil Aviation, said TEKNOFEST had sparked interest and curiosity among young people. Yüksek said they wanted to support young people not only in pursuing careers in aviation but also in reaching their aspirations more quickly through digital platforms.
Competition participation rises to 1.7 million
Yüksek announced that the number of competition participants, which stood at 600,000-700,000 in the festival's early years, had reached 1.7 million. He said the increase had strengthened young people's interest in aviation and raised the profile of civil aviation.

Yüksek said TEKNOFEST was directly connected to the field of aviation and that the T3 Foundation and the festival had made a major contribution to raising awareness of civil aviation. Yüksek also highlighted the importance of safety and security in aviation, saying industry representatives were working to make aviation more accessible in every province and district.

New system for unmanned aerial vehicles
Yüksek said a system had been developed to prevent the uncontrolled use of unmanned aerial vehicles and provide greater flexibility in their use. The system is expected to become fully operational toward the end of the year, while the transition will continue gradually.
Yüksek said the new system would eliminate the need to visit the institution to register an unmanned aerial vehicle, allowing the process to be completed through a mobile app. He urged young people to follow civil aviation pages to stay informed about updates.
