The amphibious armored vehicle ZAHA, displayed at the TEKNOFEST grounds, drew strong interest from visitors. Participants examined the vehicle inside and out and took souvenir photos with ZAHA.
Artists from the Haliliye Municipality Conservatory reinterpreted one of Şanlıurfa’s beloved folk songs, “Urfalıyam Ezelden,” for TEKNOFEST and ZAHA. They performed the refrain with the lyrics, “May you be my agha, ZAHA; may you be my pasha, ZAHA; may you be a Pusat over the Blue Homeland, ZAHA.”
The event, which brought Şanlıurfa’s musical culture together with the technologies of Türkiye’s defense industry, created colorful scenes at the festival grounds.
ZAHA’s purpose
Developed by FNSS to meet the Turkish Naval Forces’ need for amphibious armored vehicles, ZAHA was designed to transport personnel and equipment from sea to shore. The vehicle can be used to provide protection and fire support for units during amphibious operations.
Thanks to its amphibious capability, ZAHA can enter the water from landing ships and swim across the distance between the ship and the shore. This capability allows personnel to reach the coast under armored protection and join operations on land.
Technical features
ZAHA can reach a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour on land and 7 knots at sea, and was designed to operate in both maritime and land conditions. The vehicle can right itself if it capsizes in difficult sea conditions.
ZAHA can carry a total of 21 personnel, including a three-person crew, overcome vertical obstacles 90 centimeters high and cross trenches 2 meters wide.
