The panel and book launch program titled “From Zero Waste to COP31: Türkiye’s Climate Diplomacy,” organized by the Presidential Communications Directorate, was held in Ankara. COP31 President and Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum also attended the program.
Communications Director Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Duran said climate change is directly linked to global justice, international cooperation and security beyond its environmental dimension. Duran expressed hope that the Climate Diplomacy book prepared by the Directorate would contribute to policymaking by presenting Türkiye’s experience and vision.

Duran said efforts to combat climate change were continuing in line with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s 2053 net-zero emissions target, adding that the Zero Waste Movement, carried out under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, had given Türkiye a distinctive form of soft power in climate diplomacy.
Emphasizing the importance of effective communication and combating disinformation for the success of climate policies, Duran said, “As the Communications Directorate, we are adopting a multidimensional, long-term approach to climate communication that builds our future with hope.”
Duran said COP31, to be held in Antalya from November 9 to 20, would provide an important opportunity for Türkiye to share its climate diplomacy vision with the international community, adding that the goal was to accelerate the transformation of international commitments into concrete results. He also said the Directorate was continuing its preparations for national and international media activities within the framework of the summit.
