President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that Türkiye aims to develop its own ultrasound device. Speaking at the 12th Turkish Medical World Congress and the 2026 TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards Ceremony, held at Rixos Tersane Istanbul, Erdoğan said, "By the end of the next two years, we will produce 700 ultrasound devices annually with at least 71% domestic content."
Erdoğan cited examples of devices developed under the domestic production model in healthcare. He said ventilators produced in Batman were being used domestically and exported to 45 countries, while automated defibrillators developed by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with ASELSAN had been sent to 16 countries. Erdoğan said mobile digital X-ray devices were being used in public hospitals and that a heart-lung machine developed entirely with domestic resources had been put into service, adding that very few countries in the world could produce this device.
Erdoğan said domestically developed artificial intelligence-supported intensive care monitors had begun to be used in clinics, adding that CAR-T cell therapies and their production technology were also being implemented through domestic engineering. He said the domestic content rate in public procurement had increased by 7 percentage points over the past year, and stated, "Just as we wrote an epic in the defense industry, we will achieve the same successes in the healthcare sector."

Nobel Prize-winning scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar was also present at the ceremony. Erdoğan thanked healthcare workers serving in all 81 provinces and commemorated physicians who had died. In addition to scientific sessions, the Producing Health Business Forum was held as part of the three-day congress.
