12th Turkish Medical World Congress opens in Istanbul to discuss future vision
The 12th Turkish Medical World Congress, organized by the Ministry of Health and TÜSEB, began in Istanbul with speeches by Health Minister Memişoğlu and visiting health ministers. World-renowned Turkish scientists came together at the session titled “What Should Türkiye’s Future Vision Be?”
The 12th Turkish Medical World Congress, organized under the auspices of the Presidency by the Ministry of Health and the Turkish Health Institutes Presidency (TÜSEB), began with an opening ceremony in Istanbul. Held at Rixos Tersane Istanbul from October 29 to 31, the Congress brings together scientists, healthcare professionals and industry representatives from different countries.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the Turkish national anthem, followed by a screening of the Congress promotional film.
Visiting health ministers address the Congress
Health Minister Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, TÜSEB President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan and visiting health ministers from different countries addressed the participants at the opening. The speeches highlighted scientific production in healthcare, innovative technologies, international cooperation and the future of health systems.
Senior government representatives who spoke at the program emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and experience in healthcare, calling for the development of scientific and technological partnerships.
“What Should Türkiye’s Future Vision Be?”
A session titled “What Should Türkiye’s Future Vision Be?” was held as part of the Congress and moderated by Deputy Health Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şuayıp Birinci. Cezmi Akdiş, Enis Barış, Sabahattin Aydın, Utkan Demirci, Cenk Öztürk and Gökhan Hotamışlıgil participated as panelists.
The session, which also featured Turkish scientists continuing their work at prominent academic institutions abroad, examined Türkiye’s future vision in science, healthcare and technology from different perspectives.
Meeting with young people and awards ceremony
At the Meeting with Young People program held on the second day of the Congress, Health Minister Memişoğlu, Nobel Prize-winning Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar and Baykar Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar met with young people. The Congress will conclude on October 31 with the TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards ceremony.
