The Foreign Ministry issued written statement No. 208 regarding several claims raised about its policy on the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean.
The statement said that, contrary to a political party leader’s claim, Minister Hakan Fidan had not given an interview to a newspaper published in Greece. The ministry said Fidan’s responses at an event organized by a think tank in Brussels had been distorted and taken out of context, turning Türkiye’s policy on the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean into a subject of political debate.

"We will protect our legitimate rights without concessions"
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that there had been no change in the positions Türkiye defends in accordance with international law. The statement said Türkiye would continue to protect its legitimate rights and interests in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean without making concessions.
