In the case against France’s former Culture Minister Dati over allegations of corruption and influence peddling, prosecutors sought a four-year prison sentence. They requested that two years of the sentence be served under electronic monitoring.
Prosecutors also requested a €450,000 fine and the confiscation of assets worth €900,000. They further sought to bar the former minister from standing in elections and holding public office for five years.
An investigation was opened in 2019 into allegations that Dati had received money from the Renault-Nissan Group for lobbying activities while serving as a member of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2019. The trial on corruption and influence-peddling charges began at the Paris Criminal Court.
