Yeni Parti spokesman Zeynel Emre made allegations about share transactions by Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, the AK Party’s deputy chair for social policy and a former family and social policies minister, and her husband İlyas Kaya, as Türkiye’s fund investigation dominates the agenda.
Speaking at his party’s Bahçelievler district congress in Istanbul, Emre claimed Kaya bought 250,000 shares of a listed company at 255 lira on April 8 and sold them in September at 4,482 lira, investing 63.359 million lira and withdrawing 1.344 billion lira in four months. He alleged her husband bought 155,000 shares, investing 99.687 million lira and withdrawing 826 million lira.
Asked about the claims, Kaya told Notbir: “I’m not available.” Former AK Party lawmaker Şamil Tayyar called the allegations “very grave,” saying that if true she should resign immediately, and if not, she should deny them and file a lawsuit.
“No one can use their office as a means of personal enrichment,” Tayyar said, noting that the Istanbul prosecutor’s office had requested a list of those who withdrew from funds in the past three months.
