Hasan Hüseyin Genç is taking part in TEKNOFEST this year with locally developed technology created by the team he now works for as an engineer. In 2024, he attended the festival as a university student and competed in its rocket contest. The Aviation, Space and Technology Festival is welcoming visitors at GAP Airport in Şanlıurfa.
Genç's journey at TEKNOFEST from student to engineer
While studying at the Faculty of Computer Engineering at Fırat University, Genç and his teammates competed in the 2024 TEKNOFEST rocket contest with the İpek Yolu team. They received the “Best Team Spirit” award in the competition.
After graduating from university, Genç continued working on rocket technologies. This year, he is introducing the products developed by his team at its stand in the T3 Foundation of Türkiye tent.
The computer that manages a rocket's flight
Genç said that, under the requirements set by ROKETSAN for the rocket competitions, the teams' systems had to include commercial products. He said they developed a commercial flight control computer to meet this need and that the product was tested by ROKETSAN.
Genç described the flight control computer as a board that manages the rocket throughout the entire process, from launch to landing, and called it “the rocket's brain.” He said his team developed the entire design, layout and software itself.
First sale completed, export targeted
Genç said TEKNOFEST represented a journey for him extending from his student years into professional life. He said the festival not only organizes competitions but also contributes to the emergence of startups and the development of value-added products.
Genç announced that the product developed by his team had been sold in the domestic market and that the first sale took place last year. The team aims to export its products in the future.
Giving young people product development experience
Genç said he was pleased to review the work of students who approached them at the festival grounds. He said they particularly encouraged young people competing in rocket contests to conduct research in the field.
Genç said TEKNOFEST gives young people experience in the product development process alongside technical knowledge. He said the festival creates an ecosystem that prepares students for professional life through competitions and development opportunities.
Genç also said the festival contributes to the development of new products and the training of young technology specialists, adding that this process is one of the stages of the “National Technology Initiative.”
