Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and his delegation were hosted at Türkiye’s Embassy in Beijing during their engagements in China. The reception, held as part of the September 2026 visit, showed that Kacır’s official contacts in China were also continuing through diplomatic channels.

Kacır’s meeting with China’s Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun was also among the key aspects of the visit. Contacts between the two countries were discussed within the framework of developing cooperation in science, technology, innovation and investment.
The visit to China took place as part of Türkiye’s efforts to develop relations with countries possessing high-tech capacity and increase mutual investments. In 2025, Kacır had highlighted China’s capacity in the high-tech sector and shared with the public the goal of increasing investments with China.

Electric vehicles and batteries also featured prominently in earlier stages of industrial and technology contacts between Türkiye and China. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Industry and Technology on December 25, 2023, Kacır had met in China with executives from GAC AION, Chery, Zeekr, BYD, SAIC, Farasis and Huawei, and outlined the opportunities Türkiye offers for automotive and battery investments.

Kacır was in China on August 31–September 1, 2025, for meetings of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Considered alongside that visit and the electric vehicle and battery discussions in 2023, the new contacts showed that Türkiye’s efforts to position China as a partner for cooperation not only in trade but also in high technology and investment are continuing. No new investment agreement, investment amount or joint project decision was announced during the reception at the Embassy in Beijing; the development remained at the level of diplomatic contacts.
