Pop music legend Madonna announced that her long-awaited biopic project has been shelved. The artist cited a budget dispute with Universal Studios as the reason for the cancellation.
In a statement, Madonna said, "We had a budget dispute with Universal Studios because I have lived an extraordinary life. I have lived a very big life, so I needed a big budget. They just couldn't understand that."
The famous singer stated that she struggled with the producers for days and was constantly told that "this film cannot be made."
The first version of the project was launched under the name "Little Sparrow" and was worked on with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody. However, disagreements over the budget prevented the film from moving forward.
