Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek commented on the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Fiscal Transparency Evaluation, which examines Türkiye’s fiscal statistics, budget management, fiscal risks and accountability practices.
In a statement posted on his X account, Şimşek said that Türkiye’s 2015 evaluation found it had good or advanced practices in approximately half of the principles included in the Fiscal Transparency Code.

Şimşek said that this share had risen to two-thirds, adding that Türkiye ranks highly in fiscal transparency among roughly 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Austria and Portugal.
Şimşek described the result as a concrete outcome of institutional transformation that has continued for more than 20 years. He said work was ongoing on structural reforms to further improve fiscal transparency.
