In Ankara, an operation was conducted against a group combining vehicles damaged in the earthquake with vehicles under lien, wanted, stolen, and smuggled vehicles using the "change" method, resulting in the detention of 4 suspects.
Under the coordination of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out by the Ankara Police Department Public Order Branch teams, it was determined that vehicles under lien and wanted vehicles, as well as stolen and smuggled vehicles, were being put on the market using the "change" method with vehicles severely damaged in the earthquake.
As the investigation deepened, teams conducted searches at two separate auto spare parts businesses operating in the Ankara Auto Industry Site with a court order. During inspections of engines and transmissions found at the workplaces, 13 engines and 4 transmissions with erased chassis numbers, no identification information, wanted status, and believed to be of foreign origin were seized.
Four suspects were caught and taken into custody during the operation. A forensic examination was initiated to determine which vehicles the seized engines and transmissions belong to and whether they contain any criminal elements. It was learned that the suspects' procedures at the police station are ongoing.
