ÖSYM President Bayram Ali Ersoy announced in a social media post that the 2026 YKS preference guide has been published.
When will preferences be made?
Ersoy said, "The 2026 YKS Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide has been published. Preferences will be made between July 29 and August 10."
2026 YKS results announced
Ersoy had also issued a written statement hours earlier regarding the 2026-YKS results.
Congratulating the candidates who prepared for the exam through an intense study period, their supportive families, and the entire educational community that actively contributed to the process, Ersoy stated he had full confidence that those who secure university placements will complete their studies in the best possible way and take on beneficial roles for the country.
Noting that the anxious wait that began with the completion of the YKS has ended as of today, Ersoy said, "We have announced the results of the YKS, for which approximately 2.5 million candidates applied. May it be auspicious. You can check the exam results on our institutional website. With the announcement of the results, our preference process will begin."
"2026-YKS preference selections will be carried out between July 29 and August 10," he added.
Two questions canceled
Advising candidates to consider their interests and abilities during the selection process, to thoroughly research their chosen fields, and to carefully read the information about departments in the guide to be published, Ersoy wished that their choices would be favorable.
In a statement on ÖSYM's website, the following was noted: "The item analyses of the 2026-YKS, conducted on June 20-21, 2026, have been examined, the answer key checks have been completed, appeals have been scientifically evaluated, and it was decided to cancel question number 20 in the Turkish Language and Literature-Social Sciences-1 Test's Basic Question Booklet of the 2026-YKS 2nd Session Field Proficiency Tests, held on June 21, 2026. Additionally, question number 23 in the Mathematics Test's Basic Question Booklet was canceled by court order, and the evaluation processes were carried out accordingly."
