Russian Ambassador to Türkiye Sergey Vershinin paid a working visit to the central Anatolian city of Konya on Oct. 12, where he and his delegation called on Governor İbrahim Akın at his office before meeting Mustafa Uzbaş, acting mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality.
According to the Russian Embassy, the two sides held a wide-ranging exchange of views on bilateral and regional cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, agro-industry and tourism. Governor Akın thanked the ambassador for the courtesy visit.

Invitation to Moscow municipal forum
Vershinin also briefed his hosts on the International Municipal Forum to be held in Moscow on Nov. 23-24.

“Konya not only showcases one example of today’s advanced Russian-Turkish cooperation, but also represents an important page in the history of defending the sovereignty and independent development path of our two countries in the 1920s,” the ambassador said.
A career diplomat and former Russian deputy foreign minister, Vershinin was appointed ambassador to Ankara by a decree of President Vladimir Putin in February and presented his credentials to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on April 30.
