Spain beat Czechia 3-1 in the third-week match of the top tier of the Nations League. Spain secured their third consecutive win at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium in Oviedo.
With this result, Spain remained top of Group C with 9 points. England were second with 6 points, Croatia third with 3 points, while Czechia stayed bottom without a point.
Spain took a two-goal lead in the first half
Spain took the lead in the sixth minute through Lamine Yamal. Yamal entered the penalty area from the right wing and sent the ball into the far corner beyond the goalkeeper’s reach with a curling left-footed shot.
Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky denied Dani Olmo from close range. Spain went into halftime 2-0 ahead after Rodri converted a loose ball in the penalty area in the 35th minute.

Czechia reduced the deficit, but Spain won late on
Spain’s attacking effectiveness declined after Yamal was substituted at halftime. Czechia reduced the deficit in the 69th minute when Jiri Slama converted a pass from Adam Hlozek.
Czechia thought they had equalized through Ryan Naderi in the 79th minute, but the referee disallowed the goal because Ladislav Krejci had fouled Robin Le Normand at the start of the move. Krejci was sent off in the 85th minute after receiving a second yellow card.
Spain substitute Mikel Merino made it 3-1 in the 89th minute by converting the rebound after Kinsky had saved Victor Munoz’s shot.
With this victory, Spain’s unbeaten run in regulation time reached 41 matches. Spain won 31 of those matches and drew 10; their last defeat in 90 minutes came on March 22, 2024, when they lost 1-0 to Colombia in London.
