Authorities are continuing efforts to capture the suspect in a shooting at a Spirit Halloween store selling costumes and decorations in California, one day before Halloween.
According to the Fairfield Police Department, the shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. local time on Friday, Oct. 30, inside the store at the Solano Town Center shopping mall on Travis Boulevard. One of the seven people struck by gunfire, 31-year-old Constance Hages, died. Hages' family told police that she was pregnant; the Solano County coroner's office is expected to confirm the information.
Three victims in critical condition
All of the injured victims are men between the ages of 16 and 43. Police said three victims, aged 16, 19 and 32, are in life-threatening condition, while a 23-year-old victim is receiving treatment at a hospital in critical but stable condition. Two others, aged 19 and 43, were discharged after receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.

Police: Shooting was targeted
Based on initial findings, police believe the incident was a targeted attack carried out by a single suspect inside the store. The suspect's identity has not been released, and no arrest has been reported. While detectives examine security camera footage and other evidence, the FBI's Sacramento office has sent an evidence collection team to the area. Police asked anyone with information to call 707-428-7600.

Following the shooting, the shopping center canceled a Halloween event planned for children on the evening of Oct. 31. Spirit Halloween said it was deeply saddened by what happened and announced that the store would remain closed.
Earlier the same day, a 21-year-old man was killed in another Spirit Halloween store in Madison Heights, Michigan, after gunfire broke out following an argument. Police said there was no connection between the two incidents.
