Star singer Tarkan has re-recorded his song "Uyan" in English as "Wake Up" for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), which will be held in Antalya under Türkiye's hosting. Tarkan volunteered his support for the project.
From parched soil to the ocean
In the approximately three-minute video, Tarkan performs the song amid images of burned forests, parched soil, a boat filled with plastic waste and the ocean. Highlighting individual and collective responsibility in the face of climate change, the video calls on the world to take action. The lines from the song's Turkish lyrics, "Wake up, wake up, my friend, wake up. Put your hand on your heart before our time runs out," also emphasize the need to act without delay.

COP31 is only days away
COP31 will be held at Antalya EXPO Center from November 9 to 20. According to remarks by Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum, 91 heads of state have so far confirmed their attendance; delegations from 196 countries, nearly 300 ministers and 1.5 million visitors are expected to attend.
As part of awareness efforts for the summit, Türkiye previously prepared an English-language song called "Let's COP" and recently released a new promotional film centered on figure skating.
