The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has announced its purchase prices for in-shell hazelnuts for the 2026–2027 season. Based on a 50% sound kernel rate, the price per kilogram was set at 255 lira for Giresun-quality hazelnuts, 250 lira for levant-quality hazelnuts and 145 lira for sivri-quality hazelnuts.
For each percentage-point increase above a 50% yield, an additional 5.1 lira per kilogram will be paid for Giresun-quality hazelnuts and 5 lira for levant-quality hazelnuts.
Purchases will begin on August 24
In-shell hazelnut purchases will initially be carried out at 16 locations starting August 24. Depending on the harvest situation, the number of purchasing locations may be increased to 61.
Purchases will be conducted through an appointment system. The appointment system for all purchasing locations will become active at 09:00 on August 17.
Producers will be able to make appointments online, through e-Government or by applying in person at purchasing locations at TMO offices.
Purchase conditions announced
TMO will purchase in-shell hazelnuts through physical analysis. The assessments will take into account moisture content, the sound kernel rate, the shriveled kernel rate, the rate of rotten and defective kernels, and the rate of foreign matter.
- Products with a moisture content of up to 6.5%
- Products with a sound kernel rate of 40% or higher
- Products with a shriveled kernel rate of 10% or lower
- Products with a rotten and defective kernel rate of 7% or lower
- Products with a foreign matter rate, such as stones and soil, of 0.5% or lower
- Products in which the rate of cracked, broken and shelled hazelnut kernels is 10% or lower
Products registered in the Farmer Registration System will be purchased if they meet the specified conditions. Products consisting of the previous year's harvest, or a mixture of the previous and current year's harvests, will not be purchased.
Producers warned about drying and registration
To avoid problems caused by moisture, producers need to ensure that their products are properly dried and prepare the hazelnuts in line with the specified standards.
Producers were also asked to contact provincial or district directorates of agriculture and forestry to update their 2026 Farmer Registration System information and deliver their products to TMO purchasing locations on their appointment date.
Payments will be made from the 21st day
Payment for the hazelnuts will be transferred to producers' bank accounts starting on the 21st day following delivery of the products.
An Alo Ürün Line has been established within TMO's General Directorate to ensure producer satisfaction during the purchasing process and address any problems that may arise. Producers will be able to contact the line at 0 312 416 34 10/8 for information about hazelnut purchases.
The announcement also included the contact numbers and addresses of the regional directorates to which the purchasing locations are affiliated.
