Plans call for greater budgetary support in 2027 for efforts to develop Türkiye's tourism potential and increase the sector's added value. Under the 2027 Central Government Budget Law Proposal, the resources allocated to the tourism development program are expected to total 12 billion 121 million 204 thousand lira.
A budget of 9 billion 339 million 479 thousand lira had been allocated to the program for the current year. The planned resources for 2027 will therefore increase compared with this year.
Tourism revenue ranking target
Türkiye is expected to finish this year in seventh place in the international tourism revenue ranking. Rising tourism revenues are projected to make Türkiye the world's sixth-largest tourism earner in 2027 and fifth-largest in 2028.
Türkiye set a record last year with tourism revenue of $65.2 billion. The target for 2026, previously set at $68 billion, was reduced to $65 billion due to the impact of the war in the region.
The Medium-Term Program sets tourism revenue targets of $70 billion for 2027, $73.5 billion for 2028 and $78.5 billion for 2029.

Fourth place in tourist numbers to be maintained
Türkiye has risen from eighth to fourth place in terms of tourist numbers since 2017. Over the same period, it climbed from 15th to seventh place in tourism revenue.
Under the targets of the tourism development program, Türkiye is expected to retain the fourth place it reached this year in the World Tourism Organization's ranking of the countries attracting the most tourists throughout the 2027-2029 period.
Target for rise in tourism development index
Türkiye is estimated to rank 36th this year in the Travel and Tourism Development Index published by the World Economic Forum. The target is for Türkiye to rise to 35th place next year, 34th in 2028 and 33rd in 2029.
