The Presidency of Defense Industries has launched Evren, Türkiye’s national artificial intelligence platform, to strengthen the country’s technological independence and data sovereignty.
Evren brings datasets, artificial intelligence models and high-performance computing capacity together on a single platform. The system is being made available to defense industry and technology companies, as well as academics, entrepreneurs, students and developers.
Sensitive data is processed on infrastructure in Türkiye
Commands and response data on the platform are processed on infrastructure consisting of high-performance graphics processing units located in Türkiye. This structure aims to prevent sensitive data from being transferred to cloud computing services abroad.
Evren can be accessed through the e-Government Gateway after identity verification.
11 open-weight large language models
Evren enables end-to-end training of models for computer vision applications such as object detection, image segmentation and classification.
The platform has also activated an inference layer covering 11 open-weight large language models whose model files are publicly available and can be downloaded and modified or hosted on dedicated devices and servers.
Evren’s number of active users reached 7,500 in a short time. The platform is intended to contribute to the development of Türkiye’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Local language, image and audio models planned
In the next stage, the platform is planned to be developed with domestic large language, image and audio models, while the capacity of its computing infrastructure is also set to be increased.
Evren is intended to establish a Türkiye-based, shared artificial intelligence development infrastructure and serve the defense industry, universities, technology companies, entrepreneurs and developers through this infrastructure.
Users can earn credits by sharing data and models and spend them on GPU computing power. API calls can be used without limit, without being deducted from credit balances, until November 1, 2026.
