In a firing exercise conducted as part of the HİSAR project under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), a missile with an imaging infrared (IIR) seeker fired from the HİSAR A+ Autonomous system successfully hit a jet-powered target. The firing was carried out on the 41st anniversary of the Presidency.
Presidency of Defense Industries President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün said, "In the 41st proud year of our Presidency, HİSAR A+ Autonomous, the autonomous will of our Sky Homeland, successfully hit its target." Görgün said the system in the inventory had been developed with contributions from more than 200 domestic companies and strengthened air defense capabilities by bringing all its components together in a single vehicle.
Developed for the air defense of armored and mechanized units as well as fixed units, HİSAR A+ Autonomous features radar, command and control, fire control and electro-optical systems, while its missile seeker was developed by ASELSAN, its missile by ROKETSAN and its warhead by TÜBİTAK SAGE. The system has a range exceeding 15 kilometers and an altitude of 10 kilometers and is used against aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles and air-to-ground missiles.
HİSAR A+ Autonomous can independently carry out all tasks, including detection, identification, tracking, firing and command and control. In addition to an IIR seeker, the missile has a dual-pulse solid-fuel motor and vertical launch capability.
In a statement marking the anniversary, Görgün said that Türkiye's defense industry, which consisted of 56 companies and 62 projects in 2002, had grown to more than 4,000 companies and approximately 1,500 projects, while its project volume had risen from $5.5 billion to more than $100 billion.
