8-year-old boy drowns in hotel pool in Antalya
8-year-old Erdem Ateş, who nearly drowned in a hotel pool in Antalya's Alanya district, died after being taken to hospital. The hotel's general manager and two lifeguards were arrested over the incident.
8-year-old Erdem Ateş, who was staying with his family at a five-star hotel in the Kargıcak neighborhood of Antalya's Alanya district, nearly drowned in the hotel pool.
After bystanders raised the alarm, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Ateş was taken to hospital by paramedics but could not be saved despite all efforts.
The District Gendarmerie Command detained the hotel's general manager Gökhan A., security manager Nihat Ü., and lifeguards Ceyda E. and Resul E. over the incident. Following procedures at the gendarmerie, the suspects were sent to the courthouse; Gökhan A. and lifeguards Ceyda E. and Resul E. were arrested, while security manager Nihat Ü. was released.
