Bulgaria will hold an election on Sunday, October 25, to choose its president and vice president. Twenty-seven candidate pairs will compete in the presidential election in the country, which has about 6.5 million registered voters.
Voting will begin at 07:00 local time and end at 20:00. If queues form at polling stations, voting hours may be extended until 21:00.
613 polling stations to open abroad
Voting at polling stations abroad will also take place from 07:00 to 20:00 local time. This period may be extended until 21:00 if there is heavy turnout.
Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission announced that 613 polling stations would open in 60 countries. In Türkiye, where many Bulgarian citizens live, 78 polling stations will operate in 18 provinces.
There will be 82 polling stations in the United Kingdom, 70 in Germany, 67 in Spain and 44 in the United States.
Runoff may be held on November 1
Opinion polls indicate that only two of the 27 candidate pairs are expected to secure broad voter support. Incumbent President Iliyana Yotova and former Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov are considered the leading candidates in the election.

Poll results project Yotova to receive 43.4 percent of the vote in the first round and Gyurov 28.9 percent. If these projections materialize, the two candidates will compete in the runoff scheduled for November 1.
Radev calls on voters to participate
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev called on citizens to participate actively in the election. Saying that old political practices must come to an end, Radev said that parties seeking to preserve the status quo should not prevent the country from entering a new phase of development.
Radev said that the country’s administration could not be entrusted to inexperienced politicians at a time when conflicts continue around the world. Saying that Bulgaria must be in reliable hands, Radev announced that they would support Iliyana Yotova and Kiril Valchev, under the banner of “Progressive Bulgaria,” for peace and security.
Bulgaria’s previous presidential election was held on November 14, 2021, with the runoff taking place on November 21 of the same year.
