Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov praised Türkiye in his address to the 13th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Ankara. Addressing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Japarov said, "Under your leadership, Türkiye is enhancing its standing in the international arena through its political, economic, military and technological achievements."
Japarov also said, "We appreciate Türkiye's initiatives to establish lasting peace in the Middle East." The previous day, Erdoğan had presented Japarov with the Order of the Turkic World at an official dinner held at Beştepe.

"The organization's importance is growing"
Japarov said current geopolitical and economic changes require countries to act together, adding, "Under these circumstances, the importance of the Organization of Turkic States is steadily increasing." Saying that Kyrgyzstan supports cooperation based on concrete results, Japarov said he believed Türkiye's chairmanship would give new momentum to joint efforts.
Japarov said Kyrgyzstan's trade volume with OTS members reached $3.3 billion in 2025, a 36 percent increase, and stressed that connecting the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway to the Middle Corridor via the Caspian Sea was highly important for transit potential.
Artificial intelligence, energy and Lake Issyk-Kul
Drawing attention to the importance of developing artificial intelligence technologies in Turkic languages, Japarov proposed supporting joint initiatives through the capabilities of Kyrgyzstan's High Technologies Park. Saying that only 15 percent of Kyrgyzstan's hydropower potential is being used, Japarov invited investors to his country, citing the Kazarman hydropower cascade project, which also involves the Turkish company İhlas Holding.
Japarov called for joint projects to address climate change and melting glaciers to be accelerated, and proposed establishing a trust fund under the UN to protect Lake Issyk-Kul. Citing the work of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University and the Türkiye Maarif Foundation as examples, the Kyrgyz leader proposed establishing joint educational institutions with other brotherly countries as well.
Japarov also proposed creating a joint tourism brand called "Visit the Turkic States" and suggested that the informal OTS summit in 2027 be held in Kyrgyzstan on August 5-6.
Met with Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex
Within the scope of the summit, Japarov also met with President Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex. According to the statement from the Directorate of Communications, Turkey-Kyrgyzstan bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues were discussed during the meeting.
Erdoğan stated that steps should be taken to activate the potential of the two countries in the fields of trade and investments, and drew attention to the importance of advancing cooperation in areas such as defense industry and energy. Erdoğan, who said he believes that the Organization of Turkic States will take strong steps in the new period, emphasized that strengthening the solidarity between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan in international platforms, especially the United Nations, will benefit both countries.
