Mahmut Sütçü, chairman of Türkiye’s Capital Markets Board (SPK), has submitted his resignation due to health problems, Anadolu Agency reported on Monday.
There has been no official statement yet on whether the resignation has been accepted or who will succeed him.
Five months at the helm
Sütçü was appointed SPK chairman on May 9, 2026, after serving as the board’s deputy chairman since November 2024. Born in 1968 in Bafra, in the Black Sea province of Samsun, he graduated from the Department of Public Finance at Ankara University’s Faculty of Political Science.
He began his career as an auditor at the Finance Ministry and went on to head the tax offices in Antalya and Ankara before serving as deputy head of the Revenue Administration.

Deputy minister Çelik seeks retirement
On the same day, Deputy Treasury and Finance Minister Osman Çelik submitted a retirement request to Minister Mehmet Şimşek, effective immediately.
The two moves come as an investigation in Istanbul into investment funds remains on the agenda. Türkiye’s Fund Coordination Board is continuing payments to investors as part of the liquidation of troubled funds.
