An important development occurred in the investigation of university student Gülistan Doku, who has been missing in Tunceli since January 5, 2020. The fugitive suspect Umut Altaş, who was issued a red notice, was detained in the United States of America. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced that the extradition procedures for Altaş have been initiated and that the process is being conducted with meticulous international cooperation. Çiftçi stated that all technical data and information obtained in the investigation have been shared with the relevant country authorities. Additionally, interviews given by Umut Altaş to some media outlets and images identified in open sources were also shared with the relevant units to contribute to the investigation. In an audio recording obtained by JINNEWS, Altaş expressed that he has evidence that will close the file regarding Gülistan Doku and requested that the authorized authorities in Turkey contact him. The Interior Minister emphasized that the struggle for the realization of justice will continue and fairness will be ensured.
