Ties between Türkiye and Equatorial Guinea have grown in recent years as part of Ankara’s outreach to Africa. Türkiye’s embassy in Malabo was opened by then-Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in the 40th year of diplomatic relations, during a visit in which the two countries signed a series of cooperation agreements.
Turkish Airlines operates flights between Istanbul and Malabo. Equatorial Guinea is one of Central Africa’s main oil and gas producers.
