According to data from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, electric vehicles underwent 3,527,070 charging sessions in August at stations operated by charging network operators across Türkiye.
A total of 97,469 megawatt-hours of electricity was consumed during these sessions. Average consumption per charging session was 27.63 kilowatt-hours, while the total charging time reached 3,650,668 hours.
Highest consumption recorded between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The highest hourly consumption was recorded between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Electricity consumption during this period reached 6,496 megawatt-hours, followed by 6,487 megawatt-hours between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 6,435 megawatt-hours between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Total consumption by electric vehicles between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. amounted to 19,419 megawatt-hours. The lowest hourly consumption of the day was recorded between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. at 922 megawatt-hours.
Weekend consumption stood out
Daily data showed that the highest consumption in August was recorded on Saturday, at 17,535 megawatt-hours. Consumption reached 17,280 megawatt-hours on Sunday, while the highest weekday figure was recorded on Monday at 14,995 megawatt-hours and the lowest on Tuesday at 11,064 megawatt-hours.
Number of charging points reached 48,649
The number of charging points across Türkiye reached 48,649. Of these, 21,116 were DC fast-charging points and 27,533 were AC slow-charging points.
Of the total consumption in August, 60,621 megawatt-hours, corresponding to 62.20% of the total, took place at YEK-G-certified green charging stations. All electricity used at these stations was generated from renewable energy sources.
A more comprehensive dataset on infrastructure use is being developed by monitoring hourly, daily and monthly consumption data in the charging services market. The Energy Market Regulatory Authority continues its regulatory and inspection efforts to establish adequate and sustainable charging infrastructure that meets the needs of electric vehicle users.
The geographic locations of stations across Türkiye, the number of sockets, charging types and capacities, real-time availability, payment methods and price information can be tracked through the Şarj@TR mobile application developed by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority.
