Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that a memorandum of understanding on energy had been signed between the two countries after his meeting with Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Sakova in Istanbul.
Bayraktar said the meeting addressed cooperation opportunities across a broad range of areas, particularly natural gas supplies, nuclear energy, renewable resources, energy efficiency and security of supply.
Areas of cooperation identified
The memorandum of understanding signed between Türkiye’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Slovakia’s Ministry of Economy primarily addresses the potential for cooperation in natural gas trade. The document also covers renewable energy, energy efficiency, nuclear energy and critical minerals.

The memorandum aims to develop cooperation between the two countries and establish a joint roadmap.
Emphasis on security of supply
Bayraktar said efforts would continue to strengthen relations between Türkiye and Slovakia through energy partnerships and contribute to the security of energy supply in Central and Eastern Europe.
