Yeşilçam icon Hülya Koçyiğit appeared as a guest on Kanal D’s “Sunday Stroll” program. Answering questions from Asiye Acar, the actress spoke about her life, career and marriage.
Koçyiğit said she had watched the trailer for Kanal D’s new series “Dry Summer,” adapted from Necati Cumalı’s work, and noted that she was excited the story would return to the screen years later. The actress, who entered cinema with “Dry Summer” at the age of 15, described the film, which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, by saying, “Dry Summer was my first love.”

Koçyiğit, who has appeared in around 200 films, also explained why she had stayed away from acting. The actress said that most of the mother roles offered to her were villainous characters and added, “I cannot see myself playing a woman who is scheming, divisive and trying to separate young people.”
Koçyiğit also recounted how she met Selim Soydan, her partner of 58 years. She said they crossed paths while she was vacationing on an island with friends and added that she could never forget the crush in Beyoğlu on the day of their wedding ceremony.
