Historic Gazipaşa Primary School in Kayseri has educated students in the same stone building for nearly 100 years. The school's story was featured in Anadolu Agency's "Centennial Schools" series.
Construction of the building was begun by Salih Usta from Tavlusun. Because of World War I, the building was used during the prolonged construction period as a military hospital where the wounded were treated. It has served as a school since 1926.

Over time, the school served as a teachers' school under the name "Darül-ü İrfan," and as "Numune Mektebi" and "Çorakçılar Primary School." It was named "Gazipaşa Primary School" by a Provincial Council decision in 1928.
Acting Principal Yaşar Topcu said 230 students attend the school, adding, "Many people studied and grew here. Our 11th President, Abdullah Gül, and singer Nezahat Bayram studied here. It was built during the Ottoman period and continues into the Republican period."
Teacher Hud Yağmur, who has worked for 36 years, said that while attending the imam hatip high school across the street, she dreamed of becoming a teacher at this school after looking at it, and that she has worked at the school for 16 years.
