Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, strongly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank in a speech at Batman University’s 2026–2027 Academic Year Opening Ceremony.
Kurtulmuş said, "Israel’s aggression is now showing no signs of letting up. Netanyahu and his gang, who use the elections as an excuse, are inflicting every form of oppression not only on Gaza but also on Muslims and Palestinians in the West Bank."
"They are trying to change Hebron’s demographic structure"
Kurtulmuş said, "In places where not a single Jew lived 20 or 10 years ago, and where Arabs made up nearly 100 percent of the population, they are doing everything they can to change the demographic structure of even a city such as Hebron and strip it of its Muslim population."
Kurtulmuş said Palestinians were being driven from their homes and lands through settlers, while those whose olive groves inherited from their grandfathers were uprooted were being forced to migrate. He stressed that Türkiye was among the leading countries making efforts on every platform to stop Israel’s oppression.

"A free Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital will be established"
Referring to the European Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which he attended in Rome last week, Kurtulmuş said that many parliamentary speakers had openly stated that Western countries were applying double standards on Palestine. He said, "The Palestinians’ cause is just and legitimate, and regardless of the circumstances, a free Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital will ultimately be established and, God willing, recognized by the entire world."
Maritime jurisdiction agreement with Libya
Kurtulmuş recalled that an agreement on determining the maritime jurisdictions between Türkiye and Libya had been approved unanimously by the parliament representing eastern Libya on October 20. He called it "an extraordinarily significant diplomatic success for Türkiye." Kurtulmuş said this meant the "Seville maps" project, aimed at constraining Türkiye in the Mediterranean, had collapsed.
In his speech, Kurtulmuş also addressed the Terror-Free Türkiye process, stressing that the terrorist organization must fully lay down its arms and dissolve itself.
