Voting began in Brazil on Sunday, October 25, for the second round of the presidential election. Polls will close at 5 p.m. Brasília time and 11 p.m. Türkiye time, after which the results will begin to be announced.
In the first round on October 4, Flávio Bolsonaro received 47.03% of the valid votes and Lula received 45.16%, according to data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Since neither candidate secured an absolute majority, the election went to a runoff.

In Datafolha's final poll before the election, Flávio Bolsonaro had 51% support and Lula had 49%; the two-point gap was within the margin of error. Futura's final poll showed the candidates virtually tied at 50.1% to 49.9%.
One-fifth of voters did not go to the polls in the first round. The fact that the gap between the candidates was only 2.2 million votes indicates that turnout could be decisive in the runoff.
Right-wing candidate Flávio Bolsonaro entered the race in place of his father, Jair Bolsonaro, who was sentenced to 27 years in prison on charges of attempting a coup following the 2022 election and barred from running in elections.
