Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has published an 83-year-old document on how German diplomats reacted to the January 30-31, 1943, meeting between President İsmet İnönü and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill at Yenice near Adana.

The report, dated February 8, 1943, and sent from the İzmir office to the head of the National Security Service, says the German consul initially showed great alarm, but later said Berlin had received the meeting "with great composure" and that Turkish leaders had given firm assurances about friendly relations with Germany. Türkiye kept its wartime neutrality until declaring war on Germany and Japan in February 1945.
