Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke by phone with Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
They discussed regional developments, efforts to ease tensions in the region and maintaining bilateral contacts between the two countries.

Ankara and Cairo step up contacts
Relations between Türkiye and Egypt have gained momentum recently. The first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between the two countries was held in Cairo in February 2026. Fidan and Abdelatty held numerous phone calls this year on tensions between the United States and Iran, Gaza and regional security.
The call came after Türkiye's Ministry of National Defence announced on the same day that it was ready to sign an agreement with Egypt on the delimitation of maritime jurisdiction areas. The ministry also announced that the two countries' navies would hold the "Friendship Sea-2026" exercise in Alexandria.
