The Taiz Military Axis of Yemen's army said 129 Houthi fighters were killed and 176 people wounded in two days of clashes and airstrikes in Taiz province in the country's southwest. It said the operation targets Houthi-held positions in the al-Misrah district south of the city.
On Monday evening, 13 airstrikes hit Houthi positions, weapons depots and gathering points across Taiz, including 60th Street in the north, Taiz Airport in the eastern al-Janad area, al-Rubai in the northwest, al-Dabab in the west and the al-Maafer and al-Misrah districts in the south.

The Houthis did not respond to the statement. Taiz, which sits at the junction of roads linking Ibb and Sanaa in the north with Aden in the south, has been one of the longest-running fronts of Yemen's war.
