The tent vigil started against the drilling works of the Geothermal Power Plant (JES) planned to be established in Çalıdere Village, Varto district of Muş, continues on its 19th day. While the local people continue their vigil despite adverse weather conditions, they demand the cessation of the works on the grounds that the JES project will harm nature, agricultural lands, livestock, and underground water resources. Environmentalists coming from different provinces of Turkey also support the vigil. Environmentalists emphasize that JES projects may cause irreversible damage to the region's nature. Cuma Karaaslan, a member of the Bingöl Environmental Association, stated that protecting nature is a shared responsibility and said, "If we do not protect our nature, we will lose our living spaces. Every inch of the homeland belongs to all of us." The citizens on vigil expressed that they will continue the tent vigil until their demands are met.
